Life could be worse than it is now.

When you help people in need and they express gratitude, how does that make you feel? Does it feel great to be appreciated? Would you help them out in future too? You clearly would. Feeling grateful is an amazing emotion.

Well, what if your effort isn’t appreciated and they criticise and humiliate you instead? Would that have an effect on the way you’re feeling about them? What are the probabilities of you jumping in to help them should another similar situation arise? Very bleak? I will not blame you for that.

It doesn’t indicate that you don’t need a more enjoyable life. That leaky roof might have been upsetting you for weeks, but you still have to be thankful for the fact that you do have a roof over your head. You can feel that you’ve got the worst job in the town, but I bet that you’d be capable of finding someone that would find your job a genuine blessing. Been in a violent relationship? Just be thankful for the incontrovertible fact that you aren’t in one right now. Even if you’re still in that relationship, you may be thankful that you have some time to handle it.

So long as you are alive, you’ve got something to be thankful for. Life is rarely going to be a massive garden blooming with roses that come without thorns. Its how you feel about the thorns that matter.

Your life would appear miles better to somebody else out there. Things do get messed up from time to time,  for life isn’t exciting without the ups and downs  but if you need less of these  in the future, learn how to love the ones you have now. In fact, it might have been worse, but it is not. Thank God!
